Case Study

Learn how we helped a warehousing facility save over R7,000 per month on hand paper costs by switching from manual to automatic dispensers in their washrooms.

Client Scenario

Our client, a large warehousing complex, was facing high costs due to excessive use of hand paper across 12 bathrooms. With manual paper dispensers in place, staff could use unlimited amounts of paper during each washroom visit, resulting in a monthly expenditure of R14,178. Seeking to reduce these expenses, the client approached us for a cost-effective solution.

How We Addressed the Problem

To tackle the issue, we conducted a thorough assessment and proposed replacing six of the manual dispensers with new automatic dispensers that dispense a set amount of paper per use. The remaining six manual dispensers were left in place for comparison purposes.

This strategic approach allowed us to measure the effectiveness of the new dispensers against the existing ones, providing a clear understanding of potential cost savings.

The Outcome for Our Client

After one month of operation, the results were clear. The six manual dispensers continued to dispense paper at the previous level, costing the client R7,506 for the month. However, the six new automatic dispensers significantly reduced paper usage, bringing the cost down to R2,060 for the month. This amounted to a total monthly saving of R4,612. By replacing the remaining six manual dispensers with automated ones, the client could realise a potential monthly saving of R7,000 or more on paper consumption.

Our intervention demonstrated that a simple change in dispenser technology could lead to substantial cost savings and more efficient resource use.
